BMAF Pentathlon and 5000m Championships 2024

A report by Andrew Caruana

The athletics season is pretty much at a close for another year, but not before one last competition for a number of our masters athletes. Saturday saw the BMAF Pentathlon and 5000m Championships take place at the Birmingham University Track.

Jeanette Ashton won the W65 pentathlon gold in a new British record of 3078 points - beating the previous mark by 13 points (a record that had stood since 2015).

Mark Kingston and Andrew Dodd were competing in the M55 and M60 categories respectively. Both won bronze in their respective age groups with 2102 and 2416 points respectively.

In the 5000m, Eric Southam won the M60 gold medal in a time of 17:54.48.
