Phil Kelly
The club is saddened to learn of the passing of Phil Kelly. Phil served as Oxfordshire Junior League team manager from 2016 to 2019.
Phil’s involvement in the club started as parent supporter to son Dan, who was an Abingdon member throughout his youth and competed at national level in the Javelin. Phil was always seen at competitions supporting Dan, and took a keen interest in the success of Abingdon athletes and learning more about the sport. This led to Phil volunteering to become team manager in 2016.
Phil’s time in charge helped to revitalise the club’s participation in the Oxfordshire Junior League, leading the U17 boys’ team to the club’s first Junior League trophy for several years, and creating the environment and opportunity for the wider club participation and success we see across the Junior League and Heart of England League today.
We are thankful for Phil’s contribution and enthusiasm to the club. Our thoughts are with his family: Dan, Julie and Alex.
