World Masters Championship

After two weeks of competition, including over 8000 athletes from 109 countries, 24 world records (6 of which from Team GB), the World Masters Athletics championships is over. Team GB came third overall in the medals table behind the USA and Germany.

AAC athletes

AAC had a number of athletes competing, in the multi-events, sprints and middle distance.

Jeanette Ashton won bronze in the W65 heptathlon with a points score of 3979 narrowly missing out on the British record by 15 points!

Jeanette also competed in both the 4x100m and 4x400m W65 relay teams, where they won bronze in the 4x100m and came 4th in the 4x400m.

Finally, Jeanette also competed in the individual W65 Long jump placing 8th overall with a jump of 3.34m

Jane Fabes competed in the W65 1500m, making it through the heats and coming 6th in the final, in a time of 6:03.75

Pete Stepney competed in the M60 decathlon, finishing day 1 in 26th position out of 35. Unfortunately, Pete had to pull out due to an Achilles issue on Day 2.

Andrew Caruana competed in the M35 category in the 100m, 200m and 400m. He placed:

  • 100m 45th out of 47

  • 200m 48th out of 53

  • 400m 42nd out of 45
